How many nodes do you need to represent your support network? and how many networks would you appear on?

Dunbar’s Number (calculated by Professor Robin Dunbar of the University of Oxford) states that, ancestrally speaking, we can only maintain relationships with 150 people. In our social media age, this project asks participants to consider their network of care. They use materials to build a physical representation of support every node has a name written on it. Each creating a molecule-like structure, their own building blocks and that of community. They can be connected together to create an organic growing form, that continues over a festival period.

Commissioned by ArtWaves 2018, also featured Malthouse York as a workshop 2019, Be Curious Festival at Leeds University 2022.
