CANOPY
What does connection look like?
Canopy is a large-scale light, sound, inflated installation exploring our connection with the natural world — and the connections happening inside our own bodies.
Look closely and you’ll find fingerprints, tree rings and images of oxytocin, a molecule involved in social bonding, trust and attachment. These patterns bring together two things that can seem very different: the human body and the living world around us.
The trees invite you to step inside, pause, gather and look up. Sound, light and scent create an environment that encourages us to slow down and notice our surroundings.
The work is inspired by research into nature connection and the ways our bodies and brains respond when we spend time in natural environments. We know that being in nature can affect how we feel, think and behave — but perhaps the relationship goes deeper than simply feeling calmer or happier.
Canopy asks us to consider the connections that are often invisible: between people, between our bodies and the world around us, and between the natural systems we are part of.
Take a moment. Look around. Look up.
What does connection mean to you?
